Volunteer with a Local Resettlement Agency

Local resettlement agencies have volunteer opportunities ranging from front desk help support to English language instruction. Check out some of the opportunities below or contact us at info@rcusa.org and we’ll help to connect you.

Community Sponsorship

As a community sponsor, you can partner with your local resettlement agency to greet a refugee family at their airport, assist them in securing and furnishing initial housing, connect them with local services, and show them all of the things that make your community so special.

  • Acculturation for Justice, Access & Peace Outreach (AJAPO)

    AJAPO is refugee resettlement agency in the city of Pittsburgh affiliated to the national agency – Ethiopian Community Development Council. AJAPO serves up to 400 refugees a year providing services for resettlement of new refugees, and employment, legal immigration processing for path toward citizenship, case management, youth development, school enrollment and education support to both newly arrived and those that have been in the United States for less than five years.

    African Community Center, Las Vegas (ACC-LV) is a branch office of ECDC. ACC-LV opened its doors in 2003 and since then has resettled several thousand refugees in Las Vegas. ACC-LV is a multicultural resource center dedicated to helping refugees and other newcomers to Las Vegas establish their lives of independence, dignity and achievement. ACC-LV provides a wide range of educational, social and other support services to help refugees overcome the challenges they face in a new environment. These services include: basic needs, case management, employment services, cultural orientation, transportation assistance, information and referrals, translation and interpretation, school registration, job training and others.

  • Agency for New Americans (ANA)

    Agency for New Americans is non-profit organization that provides services to refugees, asylees, and Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders. Agency for New Amercians provides case management, employment, cash assistance, immigration services and women’s, youth and men’s group classes, community health workers and youth mentorship program. Services are provided from refugees’ arrival to the US for the first year as comprehensive initial services and up to five years on referrals bases as extended services. Agency for New Americans has a very strong volunteer program where volunteers help in all domains of services from front desk services, to working with families and helping find permanent housing.
