The Stories of Us: Pride

In January, #RestoringWelcome launched to highlight the voices and needs of refugees, asylees and stateless people in the US and hold the administration accountable to build back and expand protection and welcome. This June, #RestoringWelcome’s “The Stories of Us,” a roundtable of community members, returns for Pride.

LGBTQIA+ migrants are among the most vulnerable populations as they seek refuge — often extending even to the countries they travel. Despite the US offering humanitarian protections to some LGBTQIA+ migrants, our communities are simultaneously fighting a rise in anti-trans legislation, Black trans women have remained targets of violence. And yet, community leaders, and advocates continue to show up, building welcome and care.

On June 29, 2021 1-2 pm ET, we bring together queer refugees, migrants, and service providers to reflect on the challenges and triumphs while striving to build affirming lives and supports here in the US.
