Washington, DC – During their September meeting, Refugee Council USA’s board of directors voted unanimously to welcome the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP), National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), Rainbow Railroad, and Upwardly Global as the newest coalition members.
“RCUSA’s board and staff members are thrilled to welcome ASAP, NPNA, Rainbow Railroad, and Upwardly Global into the coalition” said Executive Director John Slocum. “RCUSA has had the privilege of working alongside each of these organizations. Adding their expertise, dedication, and ingenuity to RCUSA’s member base will strengthen our work and provide a significant boost to our coalition’s ability to improve protections for forcibly displaced people.”
The Asylum Seeker Assistance Project aims to provide community, access to resources, and an advocacy voice to their 350,000 person member base. Their members represent asylum seekers from over 175 countries and reside across the country.
The National Partnership for New Americans is a coalition of the country’s leading immigration advocacy organizations who work collectively to promote immigrant equity and inclusion and a commitment to growing community leadership.
Rainbow Railroad is a globally operating nonprofit supporting LGBTQI+ refugees facing persecution through direct services and protection, and advocating for policies promoting accessible and affirming pathways to protection.
Upwardly Global assists refugees and immigrants access careers in their chosen fields, overcoming institutional barriers that often prevent immigrants from fully utilizing their education and professional training.

RCUSA is a diverse coalition advocating for just and humane laws and policies, and the promotion of dialogue and communication among government, civil society, and those who need protection and welcome. Individual RCUSA members do not all address all refugee-related issues, nor do all individual members approach common refugee-related issues identically.
