RCUSA 2024 Messaging Pillars
In Support of our Collective Mission
Immigration is anticipated to be a deciding issue in the 2024 election, with candidates engaging in anti-immigrant rhetoric–including promises to dismantle or shrink US humanitarian programs. To help combat this negative rhetoric, the RCUSA Communications Committee has created Key Messaging Pillars to serve as essential aligned statements of our values and core positions – a storehouse of topline statements and supporting messages, talking points, and frames that organizations across the RCUSA coalition can use and adapt for external messaging purposes throughout the national election campaign and beyond.
These messaging pillars are not exhaustive and are intended to be used in combination with the stories, perspectives, and experiences of leaders with lived experience. As we continue to refine these key messaging pillars, it is important to recenter ourselves in the stories of the individuals and communities that are impacted by this work. Please reference the Pillars Supplemental Story Collection below as a living repository of published work showcasing the messaging pillars through the stories of forcibly displaced people and other community members engaged in advocacy on these issues.
This conversation is ever-evolving, and the messaging pillars will be revisited periodically.
