RCUSA Welcomes Emily Wood as Program Associate

Washington, DC – Following an extensive and highly competitive search, Refugee Council USA is pleased to announce that Emily Wood will join its staff as Program Associate. Emily comes to RCUSA from Catholic Charities, where she served as Site Supervisor for Migration and Refugee Services in Arlington, Virginia. She has been working in the refugee and immigration space since 2016, and this year will be completing her Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Elliott School at George Washington University.

“We are thrilled to welcome Emily as our new Program Associate. Her years of direct service experience – including being part of the first line of welcome for newly arriving Afghans – will surely prove invaluable to the coalition,” said Interim Executive Director John Slocum. “Emily’s addition to the RCUSA team comes at a critical moment in the reimagining and rebuilding of our country’s systems of humanitarian protection. Her support and programmatic expertise, as well as her eye toward innovation and collaboration, will help ensure that the coalition is able to meet the moment fully.”

RCUSA is a diverse coalition advocating for just and humane laws and policies, and the promotion of dialogue and communication among government, civil society, and those who need protection and welcome. Individual RCUSA members do not all address all refugee-related issues, nor do all individual members approach common refugee-related issues identically.
