Washington, DC – Refugee Council USA’s board of directors has voted unanimously to welcome the Women’s Refugee Commission (WRC) as the newest member of RCUSA.

“I am thrilled to welcome Women’s Refugee Commission into the RCUSA coalition” said Executive Director John Slocum. “WRC’s voice and expertise will play a crucial role in enhancing our collective capacity to advance protections for forcibly displaced people.”

The Women’s Refugee Commission is a leading research and advocacy organization that works to advance gender equality and resilience across humanitarian responses. Their groundbreaking work has led to transformative changes in humanitarian programming. As just one example of their impact, refugee women, children, and youth now have greater access to sexual and reproductive health care from the onset of emergency situations.

RCUSA is a diverse coalition advocating for just and humane laws and policies, and the promotion of dialogue and communication among government, civil society, and those who need protection and welcome. Individual RCUSA members do not all address all refugee-related issues, nor do all individual members approach common refugee-related issues identically.
