Take Action: Urge Your Members of Congress Reject Additional Funding for Harmful Immigration Enforcement for ICE and CBP

In April, Congress passed a budget resolution that outlines the framework for a “budget reconciliation” bill to provide billions of dollars in supplemental funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol (BP). This resolution notably does nothing to boost SNAP, Medicaid, or other programs that meet community’s basic human needs.

This week, Members of Congress are voting on the legislation to give ICE and BP another $70 billion, and they aim to pass this budget reconciliation legislation before June 5th. Right now is the time to urge lawmakers to reject one more dollar to ICE and BP through the reconciliation process. Instead, they should enact transformational policies that end DHS’s unaccountable – and increasingly violent – campaign of enforcement, deadly force, detention, and mass deportation.

This money for ICE and BP would come without any guardrails and on top of the $170 billion they already received through last year’s budget reconciliation process, the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act, to execute the administration’s mass detention and deportation efforts. We’ve seen the consequences of this spending – the ongoing detention of families, arrests without judicial warrants, and even killing U.S. citizens in broad daylight. ICE and BP are already over-funded – and without the meaningful safeguards to rein in their abuses.
