TAKE ACTION TODAY: Tell Congress to Reject “Budget Reconciliation” Legislation
This legislation guts Medicaid, Food Assistance, and Domestic Human Needs Programs. Join us in telling Congress to vote NO.
This week, congressional Republicans are debating a “budget reconciliation” bill that seeks to divert massive funds away from – and strip access to – programs that connect refugees and U.S.-born families to domestic resources, like food assistance, Medicaid, and Medicare. The House is currently moving the bill through its “markup” process and hopes to schedule a House floor vote in the next few days.
Should it pass, the bill would have sweeping and harmful impacts on refugees, immigrants, newcomers, and other marginalized communities. The proposals advanced in this bill amount to the unprecedented cuts to programming that ensures millions of children and families have food and health insurance and rely on to meet their most basic needs. These cuts would eliminate health care for millions, gut nutrition assistance, harm local economies, and increase poverty, all while paving the way for massive increases in immigration deportation and enforcement policies.
