Take Action: Urge Your National, State, and Local Elected Leaders to Support Refugees and Asylum Seekers!
For decades, refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable families forced out of their homes have been welcomed to the United States and re-built new lives across local communities where they can finally be safe. Despite this long-standing tradition, the U.S. asylum and refugee resettlement programs, broader humanitarian protections, and local community-based providers that serve asylum seekers or refugees are under attack. Congressional intervention is critical to strengthening the pressure on the administration to reverse course and standing up against anti-refugee, anti-asylum, anti-American policies.
You can make a difference today. On June 2-4, refugee and forcibly displaced community leaders, local service providers, and a diverse array of allies are headed to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to urge Congress to fight for asylum, refugee, and humanitarian programs. Even if you’re not joining us in person, amplify the chorus of voices calling for welcoming policies by emailing and calling your Members of Congress throughout the month of June and especially the week of June 2nd.
State and local leaders also need to hear from you. Local leaders often are at the forefront of advancing critical policies and programs that ensure our communities have the resources they need to help protect refugees and asylum seekers against harmful policies coming down from the Trump administration. State and local elected officials have an important role to play to defend our capacity to welcome.
