RCUSA Advocacy Week of Action

Join us for RCUSA's Advocacy Week of Action March 17-25, 2025! Gather your community to join in by doing the top three ways to take action outlined below.

Why a week of action? Members of congress return home March 17-21. They are usually available for in-person meetings. Some may hold public events including town halls.

Here are the top three ways to take action: 1. Set up a meeting with your 2 U.S. Senators and 1 U.S. Representative. 2. Find and attend local events hosted by your member of Congress. 3. Host local days of action, vigils, and press conferences.

  • Use this toolkit to participate in Refugee Advocacy Week of Action from March 17 – 21, 2025. Members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives are on “recess” and at home visiting their states and districts from Monday, March 17 – Friday, March 21, 2025. During this time, many Members of Congress hold public events or town halls and conduct in-person legislative meetings with constituents. Use this one-page printout to leave with your lawmaker or their staffers.

  • Use this guidance around how President Trump continues to extinguish the U.S. Resettlement Program and shut the door on refugees and community nonprofits that welcome them. (The Week of Action is one part of a bigger push for change!)

  • What is advocacy? Advocacy is identifying problems within our communities or the communities that we serve – specifically problems that require people in power like our elected officials to change the ways things are done through changing laws and policies. When we engage in advocacy actions, we work to change attitudes, behaviors, and policies. This link helps you learn more.
