Tell Congress: Refugees Need Safety and Security

Right now, Members of Congress are home in their states and localities for their in-district work period. This is the perfect opportunity to raise critical issues that are important to you and to the refugees and newcomers in your communities.

Here are the top three policy priorities:

• Recommendation #1: Congress should restore SNAP (food assistance), Medicaid, and Medicare eligibility for refugees and humanitarian entrants through any must-pass legislation.
• Recommendation #2: As the Administration prepares the FY 2027 Presidential Determination on Refugee Admissions (PD), Congress should call for a full restoration of and investment in refugee processing and admissions for the most at risk and in direct need of protection – and robust processing of refugee and immigration benefits applications, such as green card, work authorization, and other applications.
• Recommendation #3: Congress should publicly call to fully restore asylum protections and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) – and reduce funding & increase guardrails around immigration enforcement.
