Washington, DC — At their annual meeting on Nov. 16, Refugee Council USA’s members unanimously approved the board of directors for the coming year. RCUSA’s previous nine-member board is now joined by Lourena Gboeah, Rekha Grennan, Dona Abbot, and John Slocum. Gboeah is the board chair and Delaware delegate for Refugee Congress. Resettled from Liberia in 1992, Gboeah has 18 years of experience working directly with marginalized communities. Grennan serves as a consultant for Corporate Social Responsibility, with expertise in the successful navigation of public-private partnered enterprises. Abbott serves as the Vice President of Refugee Services for Bethany Christian Services, utilizing her training and faith in support of refugees and immigrants. Slocum is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Slocum integrates his expertise as an expert on global migration in support of strategic planning work for nonprofits and foundations.
Scott Roehm, Washington Director for the Center for Victims of Torture and Board Chair for RCUSA, stated, “Our gratitude goes out to each of our returning board members for their leadership and hard work over the past year, and we’re excited for the important contributions we know Lourena, Rekha, Dona, and John will make to RCUSA going forward.”
