RCUSA promotes Sarah Seniuk to Director of Advocacy and Communications
Washington, DC – Sarah Seniuk, who joined Refugee Council USA in August 2019 and has served since then as Advocacy and Communications Manager, has been promoted to the position of RCUSA’s Director of Advocacy and Communications, effective November 29, 2021.
Sarah has been responsible for all of RCUSA’s external communications – including its website and social media accounts, and the development of strategic communications materials. She coordinates RCUSA’s member-led Advocacy and Communications committees, and leads RCUSA’s anti-racism work and the #RestoringWelcome campaign, which aims to hold the Biden administration accountable for rebuilding U.S. systems of humanitarian protection. Sarah has enhanced the reach and presence of RCUSA among key external constituencies. Among recent service to the field, she organized and moderated a session on at the 2021 National Immigrant Integration Forum and participated in a webinar titled “Beyond Welcoming Afghan Arrivals” for Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees.
In her new role as Director of Advocacy and Communications, Sarah will continue her management and leadership role in relation to RCUSA’s Advocacy and Communications committees, and will continue to manage RCUSA’s website, strategic messaging, and social media work. In addition, Sarah will take on an enhanced role with respect to strategic partnerships, building and expanding relationships with underrepresented voices within the RCUSA coalition, and improving the coalition’s systems and culture.
Prior to joining RCUSA, Sarah was as a Program Associate with Muslim Advocates, and served internships with the Arab American Institute and Middle East Institute. She has a MA from American University in Ethics, Peace, and Human Rights with a focus on social justice. Refugee Council USA (RCUSA)is a nonprofit coalition advocating with and for the needs of refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons and all other forcibly displaced populations.
